New publication: Recommendations for social support for people with disabilities in the workplace

A joint publication by students and lecturers from the Department of AIT at the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences has appeared in the 01/2025 issue of the journal "Sicher ist Sicher". The authors Nicole Bergmann, Joline Düring, Sophia Unkel, Sophie Teborg, Tomke Gerdes and Lena Hünefeld present results from the project "Quality of participation in working life - recording, describing and shaping the work situation of people with disabilities" (https://ait.reha.tu-dortmund.de/forschung/aktuelle-projekte/qualitaet-der-teilhabe-am-erwerbsleben/).
The article is dedicated to the topic of social support in the workplace as a decisive factor for occupational participation. Based on nine interviews with people who have health impairments, the authors shed light on their experiences with support from colleagues and superiors.
The publication also offers recommendations on how social support in the workplace can be specifically strengthened in order to promote professional participation.
