Christoph Burzlaff and Lena Hünefeld represented the department at the 23rd University Conference on Vocational Education and Training with the topic "Sustainable - Digital - Equitable. Future scenarios of work, education and occupation" at Paderborn University.

At the symposium 05: Vocational rehabilitation and inclusion, Christoph Burzlaff presented a contribution that was anchored in the question "Digital skills for everyone? - The need to adapt vocational rehabilitation measures in vocational training centers in the face of (digital) transformation processes in the world of work". Current research findings on vocational rehabilitation measures in vocational training centers were classified with regard to (digital) transformation processes in the labor market. Digitalization is disrupting the status quo of vocational rehabilitation, resulting in the need for extensive adjustments in various rehabilitation facilities. In vocational rehabilitation centers in particular, digital skills can be seen as a necessary condition for the successful completion of measures and subsequent reintegration into the general labor market. The article now focused on the organizational and structural framework conditions in connection with the heterogeneity of the employees and the clientele under which digital skills are taught in the facilities.

As part of the workshop "Future - Inclusive labor market through vocational training", Lena Hünefeld explained her thoughts on the professional participation of people with disabilities as an expert in a panel discussion. Organized and moderated by Stefan Kohlhof (University of Duisburg-Essen), Lena Hünefeld, together with Nadine Schönwald (UnternehmensForum e.V.) and Jörg Stemmler (Bundesverband Deutscher Berufsförderungswerke e.V.), showed which challenges still exist for the target group on the labour market and to what extent solutions can be implemented in the corporate culture. The intensive discussion of both contributions documented the need to address the topic of vocational participation at the Vocational Training University Days.
