New Subproject in SFB 1567 Virtual Living Environments

The AIT research group is conducting research on inclusion and exclusion in virtual work environments as part of subproject D05 of SFB 1567, which is funded by the DFG.

The Research Area on Work, Inclusion, and Technology (AIT), led by Prof. Dr. Frauke Mörike, has been represented in the SFB 1567 Virtual Living Worlds since July 1, 2026, through the new subproject D05 “Virtual Work Environments: Inclusion and Exclusion in Socio-Technical Systems” within the SFB 1567 Virtual Living Environments. This subproject is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in its second funding phase.

The project investigates how the digital transformation is changing work processes and virtual interaction spaces. The focus is on hybrid work models, interactional dynamics, and informal practices—such as workarounds—that can create new opportunities but also new barriers for people with disabilities.

With an interdisciplinary approach combining HCI, rehabilitation sciences, and qualitative research, D05 contributes to the critical reflection on technological norms and the further development of inclusive virtual collaboration.
